The celebration of the patron saint of Olbia, Saint Simplicio, takes place on 15 May and follows the typical programme of village festivities.
It is a heartfelt celebration with great participation and is a big attraction for the whole of the Gallura region in general. As well as the religious celebrations, which begin nine days earlier, there are various cultural and sporting initiatives as well as entertainment, such as concerts, fireworks, merry-go-rounds and other rides.

In the month of July, one of the most unusual events of the summer takes place: for some years now, a film festival called "Una notte sotto le stelle" (A night beneath the stars) is organized on the little island of Tavolara, located right in front of the port of Olbia, with the participation of leading actors and film directors from the of Italian and foreign cinema world.

Another important internationally renowned event is Time in Jazz, the international Festival that generally takes place during the week of Ferragosto (15 August). As well as the Jazz music events, the festival also includes a series of artistic and cultural activities, contemporary art exhibitions and various cultural projects and workshops.
Paolo Fresu is president and artistic director of the association. Fresu was born in Berchidda and is now a world-famous musician.
